- Combination (combi) boilers provide central heating and hot water directly from the boiler. They are ideal for smaller homes, as there is less pipework, no hot water cylinder and no tank in the loft.
- System boilers are installed with an unvented hot water cylinder for storing hot water, but there is no need for a loft tank.
- Conventional (open vent) boilers work with a vented hot water cylinder. You also need space in your loft for two feed tanks: for the central heating and hot water systems.
